Voters approve PUTTING KIDS FIRST measure for St. Louis County. St. Louis County voters on Nov. 4 approved a special one-quarter-cent sales tax to fund children's services. Nearly 62% voted in favor of the measure. This initiative establishes a Community Children's Service Fund to help area children, youth and their families facing tough issues like substance use, child abuse, and mental illness. This one-quarter-cent sales tax will provide dedicated revenue for these essential services. The campaign was initiated by a group of non-profit agencies serving children and families in St. Louis County, who witnessed that many children’s needs were not being met due to lack of funding. Similar Community Children’s Service Funds already exist in the City of St. Louis, St. Charles County and Jefferson County. These funds provide much-needed ongoing support for essential services to children. If you haven’t signed the petition and are a St. Louis County resident, please do so immediately.
