Vision for Children at Risk Selected as a Top 100 Semi-Finalist In the Case Foundation’s “Make It Your Own Awards”The Case Foundation has named Vision for Children as Risk as a top-100 semi-finalist in the Make It Your Own Awards, a new grants program that aims to increase and strengthen citizen involvement in communities. The award is for the Public Education initiative in which Vision for Children at Risk and the St. Louis Metropolitan Children’s Agenda are convening stakeholders to establish a public education coalition. The Top 100 ideas were selected from 4,641 applications from across the United States. Projects were evaluated not only on their subject matter, but on the strength of the idea as an example of citizen-centered change. In late March, The Case Foundation will announce 20 finalists. Through the Public Education initiative, VCR is building cooperation and informed dialogue around public education in St. Louis. Ten community forums have engaged nearly 1,000 interested individuals; in addition, representatives of key stakeholders are working to form a public education coalition that will provide an ongoing citizen voice to improve education. |
